Alexa Uhrich

BCSLA, CSLA, Landscape Architect
Alexa brings a passion and enthusiasm to all of her work and enjoys working closely with clients to realize their goals. Alexa is a BC registered Landscape Architect with 15 years of professional experience, having worked with two of Canada’s leading landscape architecture firms prior to founding Skala. She has a reputation for skillful design that starts with a clear concept that is developed with sensitivity to the landscape context and careful consideration of human scale and behaviour. Alexa has worked on a variety of project scales from single family residential to large scale planning projects.

Alexa’s skills were demonstrated recently where she was the project Landscape Architect for the design of a 2.5 Acre property in Vancouver’s prestigious Southlands neighbourhood. This contemporary design required a complex grading and drainage plan, thoughtful selection of materials, and highly detailed finishes. A range of program elements including equestrian facilities, a pool, large patio, and extensive gardens all flow naturally from one another creating an urban oasis for the clients and their three children. The completion of this project saw the culmination of a 4 year design and construction process.

Construction is now complete at Centennial Beach in Delta BC. This project includes many park improvements – the rehabilitation of an existing pond (with Raincoast Applied Ecology), the siting and design of 3 new picnic shelters (with Public Architecture), multi-use trails, seating, planting, and the redevelopment of the play field, tennis courts, volleyball and softball areas. Skala Design was the prime consultant for this project and worked closely with Metro Vancouver staff and a team including a Biologist, Architect and Engineers to ensure careful siting, design and servicing of new picnic shelters and other park features.
